• Speech Synthesis: The text is converted to speech using your browser's native Web Speech API
• Settings Storage: Your preferences (voice selection, speed, volume, pitch) are stored locally in your browser using the browser's storage API
• No External Servers: No data is ever sent to external servers or third parties

4. Permissions Explained

The extension requests certain permissions to function. Here's what each permission is used for:

• activeTab: Access the text you select on the current webpage to read it aloud
• contextMenus: Add "Read Aloud" option to your right-click menu
• scripting: Inject the content script that enables text-to-speech on web pages
• storage: Save your preferences (voice, speed, volume, pitch) locally in your browser
• Host permissions (<all_urls>): Allow the extension to work on any website you visit

Important: These permissions are used solely for the extension's functionality. No data accessed through these permissions is collected, stored externally, or transmitted.

5. Local Storage

The only data stored by Read Aloud AI is your preferences:

• Selected voice
• Speech rate (speed)
• Volume level
• Pitch setting

This data is stored locally in your browser using the browser's storage API and never leaves your device.

6. Third-Party Services

Read Aloud AI does not use any third-party services. The extension does not:

• Connect to external APIs
• Use analytics services (no Google Analytics, no tracking)
• Include advertising networks
• Communicate with any external servers

7. Data Sharing
